Legal Fee Calculation Method

The Legal Fee for a standard Sale & Purchase Agreement is based on Solicitors’ Remuneration Order 2023. The scale fees are as follow:

Consideration or Adjudicated Value Scale of Fees
For the first RM500,000 1.25% (subject to a minimum fee of RM500)
For the next RM7,000,000 1%
Exceeding RM7,500,000.00 subject to negotiation but shall not exceed 1% of such excess

Stamp Duty Calculation Method

In addition to Legal Fees, a buyer will also need to pay ad valorem stamp duty on the property transfer:

Consideration or Adjudicated Value Scale of Fees
First RM100,000 1%
Next RM400,000 2%
Next RM500,000 3%
Thereafter 4%
Foreign Buyers Flat 4%
